INQUA Congress XVIII

Since 1928, INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research) promotes communication and collaboration in the study of the Quaternary. The current research fields of the INQUA are reflected in its five committees.
  • coastal and marine processes. Paleoclimate
  • Human and Biosphere
  • Stratigraphy and Chronology
  • Terrestrial Processes, Deposits and History
Once every four years around the world cuaternaristas cited in the INQUA Congress to share the results the latest research and develop their agendas for the coming years. In 2011, Congress will be held in Bern, the Swiss capital.

The research field of Coastal and Marine Processes , is more related to the Marine Sciences, and is broken down into the following sessions:
  1. Climate and Sea-Level Change During The last 140 ka in
  2. the Mediterranean
  3. landscapes and continental shelves Drowned During The last glacial cycles (IGCP526)
  4. From the Western Mediterranean to the Caspian Sea: A corridor of palaeoenvironmental change and human response DURING the last 30,000 years
  5. records of Late Quaternary coastal evolution
  6. Quaternary coastal records of rapid change (co-seismic uplift / subsidence, tsunamis and storm Impacts)
  7. jumps Sea-level: evidence from Quaternary proxy
records in the first two sessions involved in coordinating the English investigators, Dr. Teresa Bardají (UHA) and Dr. Francisco José Lobo Sánchez (IACT-CSIC), respectively.
